Quick Thoughts on Style.
Returning to my Salsa Roots with the deep V-neck shirt.
Hello Dancers,
Hope you are winning all the battles, and the war!!
Remember The Son Party October 5th.
And Come join me and my new stylish look this Saturday for my Rhythm Challenge workshop. “It don’t mean a thing, if it ain’t got that swing.”
One silver lining of shingles was taking some time off, and that I am wearing loose clothes, so I have been rocking my dad’s 2XL shirts with a deep V-Neck everyday.
Grace says I am returning to my Salsa roots.
That’s too tight. Plus Deep V-necks in Salsa were before my time. In my day it was puffy sleeved pirate shirts which I wore my fair share of.
25 years ago I remember reading in a dance book about “personal style.” What is it?
He gave the etymology, that it is related to Stylus which is a writing instrument used to make impressions into stone, clay etc.
So Style then is the impression you make, just like a stylus.
That real style is the “personal authority” you have in the way you do things. That’s the Style I became interested in and how I think of personal style.
The confidence you have in yourself, that’s the style I wanted. No depth of V-neck can mask weak “style,” just like no cherry on top can mask a severely underbaked cake.
Confidence literally means faith/trust in yourself. Have you ever had someone tell you that “trust needs to be earned?” Why should it be any different for yourself?
Cheers,
Happy Dancing,
Garry
